The Prison Officers’ Association delivered a letter to the Office of the Prime Minister outlining several requests to improve the working environment for its members.

It follows the killing of Prison Officer Richard Sandy at the hands of an ex-convict.

The officer, who was attached to the Maximum Security Prison, was gunned down at a bar in Gasparillo on Saturday night.

On Thursday, the Association called on the Prime Minister to break his silence on the issue.

The prison officers say enough is enough, and they've taken particular issue with statements made by MP Fitzgerald Hinds in the Parliament during the budget debate.
