Police Detain Reported Kidnapper, Rescue 16 Year Old Girl

Police have detained a 27 year old man in connection with a reported kidnapping of a 16-year old girl in Cumuto.

The school girl was at her home on the Cumuto Old Road doing laundry when she was reportedly grabbed by a man at around 5:35pm on Tuesday evening.

She was found hiding under a bed at a home on St. Marie Emmanuel Road, Coryal some two miles away from where she was taken.

Officers found the male suspect and upon searching the house found the girl cowering in fear in the bedroom of the home.

She was found under the bed of the house.

The victim was taken to the Sangre Grande Hospital for medical treatment.

According to a TTPS release the suspect is due to be charged on Wednesday.
