Claims Of Lead Waste Contaminating Water Sources Leading To Caroni Treatment Plant To Be Investigated

Cabinet has launched an investigation into claims of lead waste from the Guanapo Dump contaminating water sources leading to the Caroni Water Treatment Plant.

 

The Solid Waste Management Company Limited appeared on Wednesday before the Public Accounts Enterprises Committee.

The company's CEO Ronald Roach highlighted that UWI in 2014 conducted an extensive study of the water quality in and around the Guanapo landfill site and had identified lead in the surrounding water courses.
