Investigation Launched Into Lead Poisoning Reports

Cabinet has launched an investigation into reports of lead poisoning from the Guanapo Dump contaminating water sources leading to the Caroni Water Treatment Plant.

The Solid Waste Management Ltd (SWMCOL) appeared before The Public Accounts Enterprises (PAEC) Committee on Wednesday.

CEO Ronald Roach said an extensive study in 2014 of the water quality in and around the Guanapo landfill site had identified lead in the surrounding water courses.
