Cunupia police are investigating the death of a man who was found with a bag tied over his head on Friday morning.

Officers said a farmer came across the body  at around 8:30am as he was making his way to a garden three kilometres east of Warren Road.

The body had marks of violence on the chest.

The victim, of African descent, was clad in red three-quarter pants and sneakers.

Police suspect that the victim was killed elsewhere and dumped near Warren Road.

They are working on the theory that the killer or killers meant to burn the body as two tyres had been placed on top of the corpse.

The body was removed to the Forensic Science Centre for an autopsy.
