A Tobago man and woman have been granted $80,000 bail after appearing in court on charges of stealing cash and jewellery from a newly-married couple at the Magdalena Grand hotel.

The accused, Ryan Forde and Alice Bascombe, were charged with the theft of approximately US$8,000 in cash and close to $16,000 in jewelry which were stolen from Hayden and Cynthia Peters who were holidaying at the Magdalena Grand Resort.

The Peters, from the US, got married in Tobago on Friday May 27th and had claimed that their guest rooms were broken into and cash and jewellery stolen while they were out.

Forde and Bascombe appeared before the Scarborough Magistrates' Court on Monday charged with house break-in and larceny.

According to Assistant Commissioner of Police Garfield Moore, some of the stolen items were found in their possession.
