The Tobago House of Assembly's Budget Day has been set.

THA Finance Secretary Joel Jack said  the budget will be read in less than two weeks.

"Budget Day for the Tobago House of Assembly will be on Tuesday June 21st 2016 at 10am."

Secretary Jack said the presentation, his fourth since he became Finance Secretary, would entail the Assembly's draft estimates for fiscal 2017.

"We're working on the numbers. We are not finished preparing the budget estimates. We are still crunching the numbers and on Budget Day we will find out the numbers."

He said the priority areas include diversification, private sector development, housing and enhancing the human capital. Secretary Jack also noted the global economic climate was considered when the budget was being planned.

Several calls were made by the Tobago Forwards and most recently by Couva North MP Ramona Ramdial for an immediate probe into the operations of the Tobago House of Assembly.

Secretary Jack said he welcomed any kind of audit into the spending of the Tobago House of Assembly.

"Emphatically, we welcome any probe into the operations of the Assembly."

Mr. Jack said the THA had subjected itself to similar investigations in the past.

"The IMF, to the Article IV Consultation. We invited the Caribbean Development Bank so our books are open. We welcome any scrutiny."
