It's being alleged that local child pornography is being sold in the capital city.

That's according to Anti Child Marriage Activist Tricia Felix, who wants to know where women's rights groups stand on what's been deemed a ''serious claim.''

"Child pornography, you can go to the DVD man and say 'hear what, you have anything with children?' and then I was talking to a media personnel and she said hear what, it's not only child porn, but it is local child porn. Where are the women on these issues?"

Ms. Felix also questioned what can be done to help mothers in rural areas to maintain their livelihood without having to put their children at risk.

"I know Victim and Witness Support did a very good programme in Moruga where they found there was a high level of incest and behaviours that were against children and because it's those very poor areas, the parents are turning an eye because sometimes it's the breadwinners."

C News contacted the Mayor of Port of Spain for his views on the claims. However, he said he didn't have information on the allegations but he would be investigating and would give an answer by Monday.
