The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago joins with the international community in condemning, in the strongest terms, the slaughter of innocent citizens in Orlando, Florida on Sunday June 12th, 2016. His Excellency President Anthony Thomas Aquinas Carmona O.R.T.T., S.C spoke directly to His Excellency John L Estrada, United States of America’s Ambassador to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, midday yesterday (Sunday June 12th, 2016).

President Carmona extended deepest condolences to the families and friends who had tragically lost their loved ones in this senseless, brutal assault. President Carmona had reason to recall the slaughter of the innocents, some 32 in number, at Virginia Tech in 2007. President Carmona stated, “Terrorism, homegrown or international, must never be tolerated by law abiding men and women.” He further stated that President Obama, U.S Head of State, be informed about the empathy, solidarity and concern shared by all of us in Trinidad and Tobago for the American people in their moment of hurt and anguish.

The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago collectively prays for those who have suffered, are suffering and also those charged with the task of restoring a sense of comfort, security, peace and justice to the people of Orlando and by extension the United States of America.
