Update on Trinidad and Tobago Nationals in Orlando, Florida nightclub shooting

PORT OF SPAIN: 13TH JUNE, 2016: The Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs wishes to advise that the Consulate General of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago in Miami has been in contact with the Orlando authorities concerning the fatal shooting at a nightclub in Orlando, Florida on Sunday 12th June, 2016.

At this time, the process to confirm the nationalities of the victims is ongoing. The Consulate General has not received any information on the involvement of Trinidad and Tobago nationals in this incident and is continuing to liaise with the agencies involved, as well as to monitor the website www.cityoforlando.net for regular updates on the situation. The Consulate has been informed that the Orlando Regional Medical Center and Florida Hospital are the two primary hospitals to which the injured have been transferred.

The Consulate General has encouraged all nationals to be vigilant and notes that it is a difficult time for families awaiting information. Please be informed that any new developments will be communicated as details become available.
