As Trinidad and Tobago acknowledges the 26th anniversary of the July 27th 1990 attempted coup, some citizens are still disappointed that the perpetrators behind the coup were not held accountable.

The Environmental Management Authority and the Institute of Marine Affairs say that Corexit is not the cause of the fish kill in the Gulf of Paria.

The EMA says the results of laboratory testing, support the initial investigation's findings, which pointed to the likely cause of the fish kill being as a result of a fish dump of unwanted or spoilt catch, and not as a result of an oil spill, red tide or the presence of Corexit.

The coconut industry in Trinidad and Tobago is slowly dying but the demand for the popular nut continues to grow.

In an attempt to save the industry, the Ministry of Agriculture Land & Fisheries began its Coconut Rehabilitation project in Manzanilla today. As Mahalia Joseph tells us, with the introduction of new farming techniques to farmers along the east coast, it is hoped that the coconut industry in Trinidad and Tobago would be thriving once again.

Over the past year more than 2500 reports of crimes against children were made to the Child Protection Unit.

A report released today said between May 2015 and July 17th this year, there were 2595 reports made to the unit with 520 of them before the courts.

Acting Superintendent of Police Odette Lewis, who is the Head of the Child Protection Unit, said sexual penetration was the most prevalent serious reported crime against children at a rate of 30% of all cases.

Airports Authority of Trinidad and Tobago (“the Authority”) advises that the two Security Check Points which serve the International Departure Gates 1-7 and 8-14 separately, will be relocated and merged into one central position to serve all Gates at the Piarco International Airport. This centralisation of the International Security Check Point will be activated on Wednesday July 27th 2016 at 12 midnight.
