Speed Limit Bill To Be Debated In Senate

The Bill to increase the speed limit from 80 kilometres per hour to 100 kilometres per hour will now go before the Senate.

The Amendment to the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Act 2017 was passed in the Lower House on Friday with support from the Opposition.

Attorney General Faris Al Rawi said the Engineering Division of the Ministry of Works took a scientific and data-driven approach in making the recommendations.

There are more speed guns available on the nation’s roads, this in light of the proposed increase in the speed limit from 80 KMPH to 100KMPH.

This was revealed by the Minister of Transport Rohan Sinanan at Arrive Alive's UN Day of Remembrance for road traffic victims.
