Less Prize Money For Dimanche Gras Winners

Less prize money for the winners in this year's Dimanche Gras show.

Nikoli Edwards has been appointed as a temporary independent senator and is now the youngest person to do so.

Edwards, the Youth advocate and Vice Chairperson Policy, Advocacy and Projects of the Commonwealth Youth Council, will hold on for Jennifer Raffoul who is currently of the country.

25 year old Edwards was sworn in by President Anthony Carmona.

The appointment will take place on Wednesday, January 11th at 7th Sitting of the 2nd session of the 11th Parliament.

Argument Between Two Relatives Turns Deadly

One man is dead following an argument near Victoria Square on Tuesday morning. 

President of the Trinbago Unified Calypsonians Organisation (TUCO) says the 25% cut in allocations to the National Carnival Commission (NCC), will mean lower prize money for the winner at this year's Dimanche Gras competition and smaller stipends for calypso tent singers. Lutalo Masimba aka Brother Resistance was speaking on Good Morning Trinidad and Tobago was talking about TUCO’s plans for Carnival 2017 today.
