Labour and Industrial Relations Specialist Robert Giuseppi, the former head of the National Union of Government and Federated Workers’ Union (NUGFW) and the National Trade Union Centre, spoke to Good Morning Trinidad and Tobago host Ria Roopchandsingh about Methanol Holdings Trinidad Limited closing two plants.

The move will see about 100 employees separated over the next few weeks. The company operates five methanol plants situated on the Point Lisas Industrial Estate in Trinidad have a combined annual production capacity of 4.1 million tonnes.

Giuseppi has questioned the level of job, and income security in the country and workers will not ever be able to perform at their optimum when there is a high degree of insecurity. He also called for an upgrade to the country's industrial relation laws.
